Dolores Huerta Apartments is a new construction development of 58 one-, two- and three-bedroom units, which serve farmworkers and households earning 30-50% of the area median income. Onsite amenities include a community building and kitchen for resident events, a multipurpose room, outdoor courtyards, BBQs, and playgrounds. All residents will have access to free, confidential supportive services.

Who can qualify for Dolores Huerta?
Dolores Huerta is comprised of 58 affordable, multifamily housing units for households making between 30-50% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Listed below are the ‘Maximum Income Limits’ for Ventura County to see if you qualify. The property will include 21 units set aside for farmworker households.

The property will begin moving in new residents starting Friday, February 7, 2025.
What are the income limits?
At the time of applying, your household’s total gross annual income may not exceed the guidelines below. These limits are determined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and are updated annually. Effective 5/15/23

What are eligible farmworker jobs?
For eligibility, a farmworker is defined as jobs that involve:
- Cultivation of the soil
- Production, growing and harvesting of any agricultural or horticultural commodities
- Raising of livestock, bees, furbearing animals, or poultry
- Dairying
- Forestry and lumbering
- Packing, delivery and preparation for market or storage
You must make at least 50% of their income from agricultural employment. Documentation verifying proof of employment will be required.
Am I eligible as a retired farmworker?
Yes! If retired from farmwork, you must:
- Be 55+
- Have spent 6 of the last 10 years or the last 5 years before retiring in a farmworker role

What are the features of the property?
All units will be equipped with a new refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, window coverings, and vinyl flooring throughout. There will be mobility and sensory accessible units available. Buildings are 2-3 stories tall with interior courtyards. Residents will have uncovered parking and laundry facilities on each level of each building. Please note, there are no elevators. This is a non-smoking property.

What services and amenities are offered?
Residents can enjoy a community room, playgrounds, shared gardens, and designated bike storage. Free onsite services include: Property management, access to social workers, after-school education programming, and so much more!
Who pays for the utilities?
Residents will pay for their own electricity (solar), DHA will pay for trash water, and sewer. A utility allowance is provided.
How are rents calculated?
Rents are based on bedroom and unit size. Household income must be at least twice the monthly rent, unless the applicant has a tenant-based rent subsidy (i.e., Section 8). Current maximum rent limits are:
